You Are What You Think…

In this New Year, many people anticipate a treasured fortune to call upon their lives. In otherwise, some people, instead of being hopeful about their New Year’s lives, spend their time thinking and being too aware of what’s unpleasant to come. These people have a negative attitude towards not-yet-happen situations and often finds for themselves a question like “Why this New Year has no good for me?”

Yes…I used to ask myself this kind of question many times last year. But now I’ve stopped doing that. It is probably because now I’ve learnt that good thing will only happen when I walk towards it and grasp it by myself, not just waiting for it to come.

First, we have to know how we can approach to good things and seize them. Let me ask you some excursive questions. Do you have any friends who are extremely afraid of cockroach? If yes, you should ever notice that, wherever these cockroach-phobia people go, they would always have to seek for the cockroach. This sounds strange – they hate it but happen to seek for it. It really happens though.

Now how about dogs? Do you have any friends who fear dogs? Just like the cockroach-phobia folk, they just have to sweep their eyes out of anywhere they go only in a search for dogs. And it often happens that these people seem to draw a special attention from the dogs and become the only ones, in a group friend they walk with, who get chased after. How about women with a phobia of mercurial men? What happens is the more they try to run away, the more they are drawn to such men!!! This really happens.

So now it comes to an interesting question: why do we keep searching for what we are afraid of?  The answer is based on a simple fact that we all want to protect ourselves against what we fear. So the reason is the more we fear bad fortunes to happen in our lives, the more our minds unconsciously concentrate on them, and finally it often happens that those dreadful fortunes are successfully drawn to us. While our minds are being crazily afraid of bad lucks, the good things that are also happening around our lives become looked over.

According to a psychological study, human beings see the world the way they wish, rather than the way it truly happens. Basically, there are 2 kinds of human’s thinking about life. One is called a Positive Thinking, which enables people of this kind to be optimistic in anything, either good or bad, that happen in their lives. They would always think “How many good things will there be ahead to come to my life?”

The other is called a Negative Thinking. People of such thinking will be pessimistic and would often think “any things that happen with me are always dreadful”. In this New Year, the Positive Thinking people will think “There must be good things coming to my life”. After they have such thinking, they start unconsciously looking for good things. And finally the good things keep passing through their lives. Contrarily, pessimistic people will think to themselves “Will I meet the same bad fortune as I ever met last year?” Then, a stream of bad lucks will keep flowing through their lives. Just like in a cockroach case, the more we fear something, the more our minds unconsciously focus on it and seek for it. And it happens that we are drawn to such thing automatically.

Therefore, think about only good things that will happen to us in this year, and then the good things will arrive just in front of your door.
Happy New Year 2008.
